The idea

Interview-credible, but built to stand in.

A fair is an interview repeated all day in a hot hall. Aim slightly softer than a formal interview — the same neat lines in more forgiving cloth — and solve the practical problems first: temperature, a bag that holds documents, and shoes that survive the afternoon.

The capsule

  • 1

A soft blazer or unstructured jacket

Instant credibility, and easy to carry when the hall warms up.

  • 2

    A clean knit or shirt

Solid colour, nothing that creases in the first hour.

  • 3

A tailored trouser or straight skirt

    Mid-rise, comfortable seated and standing.

  • 4

A flat or low block heel

You will walk further than you expect. Break them in first.

  • 5

    A structured tote

Room for a folder of CVs without looking like luggage.

Styling notes

Two neutrals, one quiet accent, and nothing that needs adjusting between conversations. Choose a knit that stays flat under a bag strap and a jacket you can fold over an arm without creasing. Keep jewellery minimal and hands free — you will be shaking a lot of them. If the hall is large, assume it is warm, and let the jacket rather than the top do the layering work.

Questions

How formal should a job fair outfit be?

+

One notch below a formal interview. Business casual with a jacket reads prepared in every industry present, without looking overdressed for the more relaxed stands.

Can I wear a jacket all day at a career fair?

+

Choose an unstructured one in a breathable cloth so you can take it off and carry it. Halls are warm and you will be standing for hours.

What bag should I bring to a job fair?

+

A structured tote that fits A4 documents flat. It keeps your CVs crisp and leaves both hands free for greetings and brochures.

Dress with ease, every day.

Free to try. Ready in a moment.
