Wear·Smart casual
What smart casual actually means.
Elevated, not formal — the code that covers most invitations you'll receive.

The idea
Smart casual is one tailored piece, one relaxed piece, and shoes that mean it.

The formula is deliberately simple because the code is deliberately vague. Pair something with structure against something with ease, then let the shoes settle the register — they decide whether the outfit reads considered or accidental.
The capsule
- 1
One tailored piece
A blazer, a wool trouser, or a well-cut coat. The anchor.
- 2
One relaxed piece
Straight denim, a soft knit, a fluid skirt. The ease.
- 3
Shoes that decide it
Loafer, boot, or clean leather sneaker. Never trainers.
- 4
A narrow palette
Two or three colours, one of them neutral.
- 5
One accessory
A belt, a watch, or gold earrings. Not all three.
Styling notes
The test is simple: could you walk into a good restaurant without adjusting anything? If yes, it's smart casual. Keep the fit clean at the shoulder and the hem — those two points carry most of the impression. When in doubt, upgrade the shoe rather than the top; it lifts everything above it.
Smart casual sneakers
A quiet edit of minimalist white and cream leather sneakers — low-profile silhouettes, no loud branding — styled for work, dinner, and everyday ease.
Questions
Is smart casual the same as business casual?
+
No. Business casual is an office code and stays tailored. Smart casual is social, allows denim, and lets one piece relax fully.
Can I wear a T-shirt for smart casual?
+
A plain, heavyweight tee in cream, white, or ink works under a blazer. Graphics, thin cotton, or a stretched neck do not.
What shoes are smart casual?
+
Loafers, ankle boots, refined flats, or minimal leather sneakers. Anything athletic pulls the whole outfit down a register.
