The medina is hot, dusty, and close. Loose cloth over the arms and legs keeps the sun off, keeps the dust off, and reads as respect rather than restraint. Keep colours warm and muted, keep shoes closed for the souks, and pack one real layer — evenings drop sharply once the sun goes.

Styling notes
Work in warm, muted colours — sand, terracotta, olive, off-white — which suit the light and hide dust far better than black or bright white. Keep everything loose: contact with the skin is what makes heat unbearable, not coverage. Shoulders and knees covered is the comfortable default in the medina, and rooftop dinners or a hotel pool are where lighter dressing belongs. If a desert excursion is planned, add closed shoes, a hat, and a scarf you can pull across your face.
