Wear·City break
What to wear on a city break.
Three days, one bag, and nothing you have to think about twice.

The idea
A short trip is a packing problem, not a style problem.

Three days means one palette and one shoe. Everything you bring should work with everything else, and one piece should be good enough to make the rest look deliberate at dinner. Decide the colours before you decide the clothes and the bag packs itself.
The capsule
- 1
One coat or jacket
The piece seen in every photograph. Make it the best thing you own.
- 2
Two tops that share a palette
One plain, one slightly better.
- 3
One trouser and one dress or second trouser
Both must work with the same shoe.
- 4
A single walking shoe
Broken in, quiet in colour, presentable at dinner.
- 5
One evening upgrade
A silk scarf, fine jewellery, or a better shirt. Weighs nothing.
Styling notes
Choose two neutrals and one accent, then refuse anything outside it. Wear the bulkiest layer on the plane or train and pack the rest flat. The evening version of a day outfit should be one swap, not a full change — a shirt, a scarf, or a different lipstick is usually enough. Comfort in the shoe decides how much of the city you actually see.
Sneaker inspiration
A quiet edit of minimalist white and cream leather sneakers — low-profile silhouettes, no loud branding — styled for work, dinner, and everyday ease.
Questions
How many pairs of shoes for three days?
+
One, ideally. A refined flat or a clean leather sneaker that handles eight hours of walking and still looks right at dinner. A second pair only if the weather is genuinely split.
What should I wear on the travel day?
+
The bulkiest layer and the shoe you will walk in. Soft cloth that does not crease, and something warm enough for an over-cooled train or cabin.
How do I look put-together with so little?
+
One strong palette and one very good piece. A well-cut coat over simple clothes always reads better than five competing outfits.
The letter
One thoughtful style note every Sunday.
No trends. No noise. Just practical observations that make getting dressed easier.
